2:30 BISM ALLAH ARRAHMAN ARRAHIM My dear lucky viewers, Al-Salaamu ‘Alaykum
2:35 This tape will present to you how to observe the Contact Prayer, the Salat.
2:42 And you are very lucky because you are trying to learn how to make contact with your creator,
2:49 which is the greatest of all worships.
2:52 In this tape, I will explain to you the meaning of the word Salat.
2:57 You already heard me call it contact.
2:59 The word Salat (‏صلاة) is an Arabic word derived from the root Silah (صلة),
3:05 which means connection or contact. So, when you observe the Salat prayers, you make contact
3:11 with your creator.
3:12 It is wrong to translate it as pray.
3:16 As a Muslim, when you tell somebody “I pray five times a day”, that is the wrong expression,
3:23 because other people can tell you “I pray all day.”
3:26 The correct expression for the Muslim is “I make contact with my creator five times a
3:34 day.”
3:35 This is the meaning of Salat.
3:37 In this program, I will present to you where the Salat commandment comes from.
3:44 The Contact Prayer is mention in the Quran more than seventy times.
3:50 And I will show you the crucial verses, like where the times of Contact Prayers are mentioned
3:59 in the Quran.
4:00 Then, I will go on to explain to you the source of the Contact Prayers.
4:06 When was the first time that the contact commandment came to us from God? And how did it come to
4:12 our generation? I will explain this to you.
4:16 Then, I will move on to explain why does God want us to establish contact with Him.
4:22 Why did God command us to observe the Contact Prayers five times a day?
4:27 What is the reason?
4:29 Does God need the Contact Prayers, or do we need the Contact Prayers?
4:34 After this, I will go on to explain every aspect of the Contact Prayer.
4:43 I’m gonna start with the call for the Contact Prayer, the Azan (أَذَان).
4:48 I will go through the details, even the historical development of it.
4:52 I will show you how the words are written in English, the English transliteration.
4:57 Then, I will go on to the preparation for the Contact Prayers, which is called Wuḍū (وضوء‎)
5:03 or ablution.
5:05 And of course, my sources are always the Quran.
5:08 There's only one source, and it is this book right here, the Quran.
5:14 God’s message to you, to me and to the whole world.
5:18 This is God’s final message to the world.
5:21 And this is our source, the only source.
5:36 I will show you where the Wuḍū is mentioned in Quran and what the details are.
5:41 Then, I will demonstrate for you how to do the Wuḍū.
5:46 And I will move on from there to demonstrate for you and describe in detail how to do the
5:52 five daily Contact Prayers.
5:55 The Morning Contact, the Noon Contact Prayer, the afternoon, the sunset, and the
6:03 night Contact Prayer.
6:04 I will explain also some of the fine details of... for example, what happens when you miss
6:13 part of the Contact Prayer in a group.
6:16 You're going to the mosque and you see a group of people praying, you come in late, what to do?
6:21 And some other fine detail.
6:24 So, I hope this will cover everything you need to know about the Contact Prayer.
6:30 The most important worship in Islam.
7:06 You heard me say that the Contact Prayers must be observed five times every day.
7:13 Okay, where in the Quran do you find these five times?
7:18 They are specifically defined in the Quran.
7:22 For example, in Sura number 11, AYA or verse number 114,
7:29 we see three times of Contact Prayers.
7:33 This is what the verse says “You shall observe the Contact Prayers at both ends of
7:39 the day, and at night.”
7:42 So, here you have three prayer.
7:45 At both ends of the day, this is the Morning Prayer and the Sunset Prayer.
7:51 The Morning Prayer is before sunrise and the Sunset Prayer is immediately after sunset.
7:59 And of course, the Night prayer is the last prayer of the day.
8:03 So, here in this verse, we have three prayers. We are commanded to do these three prayers.
8:09 The Morning, the Sunset and the Night.
8:12 Now, the Noon Prayer is mentioned in Sura number 17, verse number 78
8:21 where it says “You shall observe the Contact Prayer when the sun begins to
8:26 decline from the highest point at noon.”
8:31 So, this is a very specific description of the time of the Contact Prayer at noon.
8:38 As soon as the sun begins to decline from its highest spot of the day at noon, you observe
8:44 the Noon Contact Prayer.
8:46 This is Sura 17, verse 78. It says exactly the time of the Contact Prayer at noon.
8:55 So, now we see the Morning Prayer, the Noon Prayer,
9:00 the Sunset Prayer, and the Night Prayer.
9:03 Well, this accounts for 4 of the prayers. Where is the fifth one?
9:07 We find the fifth prayer mentioned in Sura number 2, AYA or verse number
9:13 238), two three eight, where it says “You shall observe
9:17 all the Contact Prayers, especially the middle prayer.”
9:22 The middle contact prayer has to be the Afternoon Prayer because we have the Morning
9:27 Prayer, the Noon Prayer, the Sunset Prayer, and the Night Prayer.
9:31 These two prayers here and two prayers here, so the middle prayer will be
9:34 the Afternoon Prayer.
9:36 So, there you have it, all 5 Contact Prayers mentioned in the Quran.
9:41 By the way, the Morning Prayer and the Night Contact Prayer are mentioned by name
9:48 in verse 58 of Sura 24.
9:52 Sura 24, the verse is 58.
9:55 It talks about Salat Al-fajr (صلاة الفجر‎). This is the Morning Contact Prayer, and Salat
10:01 Al-isha (صلاة العشاء). This is the Night Contact Prayer.
10:05 So, all five times of the Contact Prayers are decreed in the Quran.
12:10 And now I would like to discuss with you the source, the original source, of the Contact Prayers.
12:17 When you look in the Quran, you will notice that before Abraham, there was no mention of
12:25 the Contact Prayers, the Salat.
12:29 You notice that Noah was telling his people to just believe in God and ask His forgiveness,
12:34 but there is no mention of the Contact Prayers before Abraham.
12:38 So, the original source of the Contact Prayers is the prophet Abraham who is the father,
12:45 the founder of Islam.
12:47 And we see this very clearly in Sura number 22, verse number 78,
12:53 the last verse of Sura number 22.
12:57 We also see it in Sura 21, verse 73
13:02 where we learn that the Contact Prayers were given to Abraham, as the original founder
13:11 of Islam.
13:13 And we see in Sura 16, verse number 123 that the prophet
13:18 Muhammad followed the ways of Abraham.
13:21 And then we see in Sura number 8 verses 33 to 35,
13:27 and in Sura 9, verse 54, we see that the Salat, the Contact Prayers,
13:33 were practiced before the prophet Muhammad.
13:37 So, all these... you know, a lot of people are under the erroneous impression that the
13:42 prophet Muhammad brought these practices, but they came through prophet Abraham, and this
13:47 is why we do not see the details of how many units per prayer and these kind of details,
13:53 we do not find it in the Quran.
13:55 Although the Quran is complete, perfect, and fully detailed.
14:00 So, the reason the details of the Contact Prayers are not in the Quran is because they were
14:07 already in existence when the Quran was revealed.
14:12 I can tell you to go and buy Crest toothpaste, and you will... I don’t
14:17 have to explain to you what Crest toothpaste is because Crest is already in existence,
14:22 all you need to do is go out in the market and buy it.
14:26 And when the Quran came down, the Contact Prayers, the Salat, were already in existence.
14:32 And this is exactly why in one of the very early Suras, Sura number 73
14:38 Al-Muzzammil, we see the commandment to observe the Contact
14:43 Prayers and the Zakat (the Obligatory Charity), because they were already in existence.
14:48 Abraham being the founder of Islam, what did he contribute to the religion?
14:55 He contributed all the practices of the religion.
14:59 The Contact Prayer, The Zakat charity, The fasting of Ramadan. In fact, we see
15:05 that the fasting of Ramadan was slightly modified in the Quran in Sura number 2, verse 187.
15:13 Also, Hajj. Hajj in Sura number 22, we see that
15:18 it is directly decreed through the prophet Abraham.
15:22 So, Abraham contributed all practices in Islam. You must correct that impression.
15:27 The prophet Muhammad contributed the Quran. That’s it.
15:31 But all the practices existed before the prophet Muhammad. They were in existence when the
15:37 Quran came down.
15:51 Now, we get to the question "why should we pray?"
15:55 Why should we make contact with our creator every day, five times?
16:00 Repeating the same thing, five times a day?
16:03 Well, the answer... the obvious answer first is that we do it because our creator
16:08 commanded us to do so, in the Quran, as I showed you.
16:12 But what is the mechanism? Why does God ask us to contact Him five times a day?
16:20 Does God benefit from it?
16:22 Do we benefit from it?
16:24 And the answer immediately is "God does not need our Contact Prayer. We need the Contact Prayer."
16:31 And we fully understand the reason for decreeing the Contact Prayers if we know who we are.
16:39 You see, most people do not even know who they are.
16:42 You ask a person “who are you?” and they look in the mirror.
16:46 They say “this is me.” And you know something? They are wrong.
16:49 This is not me. This is my body.
16:53 And the body is like a garment that we are wearing temporarily.
16:57 The real person is invisible to us. The real person, the soul, is in another dimension
17:04 that is not visible to our eyes.
17:07 So, what does the real person look like?
17:10 This will lead us to understanding why should we observe the Contact Prayer.
17:16 You see, you can consider the Contact Prayers the meals for the real person, the food, the nutrition.
17:23 When we are born our mother feeds us milk and we grow.
17:28 Then, we eat all kinds of food, rice and meat and potatoes and so on, and our body grows
17:34 until it becomes five feet, six feet, whatever.
17:38 And that is the limit of the body’s growth.
17:41 Okay. Meanwhile, what is happening to the real person, the soul?
17:45 The body or the garment grows to five or six feet, but what happens to the real person?
17:53 Is the real person nourished just like the body?
17:58 And this is where most people do not realize the importance of making contact with their creator.
18:06 Making contact with our creator is the most important nutrition for the soul.
18:11 We need it to grow and develop. And I'm talking here about the real person.
18:18 The real person grows and develops by contacting our creator daily.
18:25 Five times every day constitutes five meals for the soul.
18:29 So, every time you do a Contact Prayer, your soul grows and develops.
18:34 And this is why we are commanded to do the Contact Prayer.
18:38 You can imagine the person who does not feed his or her soul. At the end of living in this
18:45 world, they are still babies because they never feed their soul.
18:50 But the Muslim, the person who observes the duties and practices of worship,
18:56 this person feeds the soul, and the soul grows and develops immensely.
19:01 And we end up our mission in this world, grown and developed, and healthy, and fit for the
19:08 real life, the eternal life that comes after this life.
19:12 The Contact Prayers therefore are very important. Think of them as the meal for the soul, for the real person.
19:22 The Morning Prayer is the breakfast for the soul, for you, the real you. Just like how you give
19:28 your body breakfast, lunch and dinner, you need, for yourself, the real person, you
19:34 need meals also.
19:37 The Noon Prayer is lunch for the soul.
19:40 And the Afternoon Prayer is another meal.
19:42 And the Sunset Prayer is an meal, nutrition for the real person.
19:47 And the Night Contact Prayer is the dinner for the soul.
19:53 So, nourishing, developing and growing the soul is the reason for observing the Contact
20:00 Prayers, and we are the ones who need it. God does not need it.
20:19 All practices of worship in Islam, without exception, are designed to cause the soul,
20:26 the real person, the real you, to grow and develop.
20:30 They're all designed to make you the boss over your body.
20:35 A lot of people, in fact the majority of people, are enslaved to their body,
20:40 their outer garment, that is temporary.
20:44 Some day this garment is going to vanish and you, the real person, will remain forever, for eternity.
20:52 So, most people, unfortunately, are unaware of nourishing and strengthening and developing
20:58 their soul, the real person.
21:00 But all practices of worship in Islam are designed to cause the soul to grow and develop,
21:08 nourish the soul.
21:09 For example, the Morning Prayer, let’s take the Morning Contact Prayer.
21:13 Before sunrise, what does the body... what does your body want?
21:19 Your body wants to sleep, right?
21:22 But your soul, you, the real you, the real person, needs to get up, do the ablution,
21:30 and observe the Contact Prayer, make contact, the first contact of the day with your creator.
21:37 So, immediately you can see that there is a fight. The body wants to sleep, and the soul needs
21:44 to get up and nourish itself and have breakfast.
21:49 Now, who's going to win? If your body wins, you continue to sleep.
21:56 And the body is the temporary garment. It is not very smart to let the body win, right?
22:04 If you win, you, the real person, win, your body will obey and will say “yes, sir”
22:12 will listen to you, obey you, get up out of bed, do the ablution, and observe the Contact Prayer.
22:19 So, you can see that the first Contact Prayer is a struggle between you and your body.
22:27 By the way, this struggle becomes less and less, as your body becomes more and more obedient
22:33 to you, as you become the boss. As you develop and become stronger, your body becomes more and more
22:40 obedient, and with time, your body, when you say “my body get up and do the Morning
22:46 Prayer”, your body will say “yes, sir” obediently.
22:49 As a matter of fact, eventually, you will actually enjoy getting up in the morning and doing the Contact Prayer.
22:58 And this is because the soul has grown and developed, and became the boss, and enjoys
23:04 observing the contact with our creator.
23:07 You look at the fasting, for example. One of the important practices in Islam is fasting
23:13 the month of Ramadan, during the month of Ramadan.
23:16 And, in Ramadan, your body, of course, wants to eat and drink, but you tell your body when you fast,
23:27 “you're not gonna eat or drink until sunset.”
23:30 So, you can see that you are practicing, exercising your soul, and this causes your soul to grow
23:37 and develop, and this is exactly the whole idea of our being here in this world.
23:41 We want to grow and develop as much as possible in order to enter the real life, the eternal life
23:49 the Hereafter, in a state of fitness, strength, growth and development.
23:55 Because in the Hereafter, you cannot hold a responsible position in the eternal real
24:02 life if you are weak, unnourished, and still a baby.
24:06 Will you hire a baby as a pilot, or an engineer? Of course not.
24:10 So, God wants you to develop yourself and to be strong enough to hold a responsible position,
24:16 a high rank, in the Hereafter, the eternal real life.
24:21 And all practices of worship in Islam are designed towards this end.
24:27 For example, the Zakat charity, what is it?
24:30 The Zakat charity is simply taking money away from your body and giving it to the poor.
24:36 So, you can see that you are being the boss because the body loves money. And you take something
24:42 the the body loves and give it away.
24:44 So, all practices of worship in Islam are designed to make your soul grow and develop,
24:51 make you the boss over your body.
24:54 And the Contact Prayers are the most important tool to do so.
24:58 You're gonna notice it the first time you do the Morning Contact Prayer before sunrise.
25:06 Let us now get to the details of the Contact Prayers and how to observe them.
25:12 There are a billion Muslims in the world today, 1000 million throughout
25:18 the world, in every country of the world.
25:21 But in the area that is recognized as the Muslim world, you hear the call for the prayer
25:27 five times every day, the Morning, Noon, Afternoon, Sunset and Night.
25:33 And you hear the MU'AZIN (مؤذن). This is the name of the person that delivers the Azaan
25:38 (أَذَان) or the call to Contact Prayer.
25:41 And before I get into explaining the Azaan, I wish to remind you that in the last 1400
25:48 years, lots of customs, innovations, prejudices, superstitions were added into
25:55 the Azaan.
25:56 And what I am going to present to you now is the Azaan of the prophet Muhammad
26:02 that he approved.
26:04 And I'm going to remove all the additions, and the superstitions, and nonsense from the Azaan
26:11 and I will give you the pure Azaan.
26:13 I'm going to write it for you on the board, so you can see how it is pronounced.
26:19 And I will have professional Azaans. You're gonna hear recordings of professional MU'AZINs.
26:27 Now, at the beginning of Islam, the people went to the prophet Muhammad and they said
26:32 “how can we call the people to come to the prayer? You know, the Jews have the horn,
26:38 and the Christians use bells. What are we going to use?”
26:42 And with time, the prophet’s companions studied the matter and finally, it was suggested
26:49 that somebody stands on top of the mosque and make the announcement,
26:54 Allahu akbar, which means God is great, 4 times.
26:58 Allahu akbar; Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar; Allahu akbar, La elaha ella Allah, there is
27:05 no god except the one God, which is the message of all God’s messengers to the world.
27:10 There's really one message from all the messengers that God sent to us. And this message is
27:17 la elaha ella allah, there is no god except the God, Allah.
27:23 So the Azaan consists of: Allahu akbar, 4 times, followed by la elaha ella Allah.
27:33 This Azaan that has been approved by the prophet consisting of Allahu akbar 4 times,
27:39 then la elaha ella Allah, with time, it got so long that in my lifetime, in 1953, the
27:48 Minister of Religious Affairs in Egypt issued a law to reduce the Azaan. It got so long
27:56 and so ridiculous, it took 10 to 15 minutes to deliver the Azaan.
28:00 And it had foolish things praising the prophet and his red cheeks and these silly things. I mean,
28:08 the Azaan got really ridiculous.
28:11 After a few years, some people added to the Azaan “Ash-hadu an la elaha ella Allah
28:19 wa ash-hadu anna Muḥammadan rasūlu Allah.”
28:21 This was added to the original Azaan.
28:24 Some years later, they added the expression “ḥayya ʿalā ṣ-ṣalāh” which supposedly
28:30 means “come to the prayer”, but it really doesn't mean that. Apparently, some new
28:37 foreign Muslims, that is non Arab Muslims, added that expression “ḥayya ʿalā ṣ-ṣalāh”
28:42 which is not a typical. The Arabic should have been “ḥayya ʿilā ṣalāt”, but
28:47 they said “ḥayya ʿalā ṣ-ṣalā.”
28:50 Then many years later, somebody added “ḥayya ʿala l-falāḥ” which supposedly means
28:56 “come to the success.”
28:59 And some other people added “ash-hadu anna alīyyan walīyyu Allah.”
29:04 in some parts of the Muslim world.
29:07 And until now, they use these... all these additions are being used in different parts
29:12 of the Muslim world.
29:14 Later on, some people added the ” ash-hadu anna ahlul bayt hojato Allāh” and so on.
29:21 So, the Azaan kept getting longer and longer, as I told you, until the Minister of Religious
29:27 Affairs in Egypt issued a law reducing the Azaan to its present form in the Muslim world.
29:34 But here at Masjid Tuscon, and hopefully you will go back to the original Azaan that the
29:40 prophet Muhammad approved. Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, la elaha ella Allah.
29:48 This is the Azaan that we use here in Masjid Tuscon, and hopefully it will spread all over
29:54 the world.
29:55 We have it done like this in many mosques around the world
29:59 that have seen the light and decided to take the Azaan and the prayers to the original
30:05 Azaan and prayer of the prophet Muhammad.
30:09 You know the same thing is true with the Wuḍū.
30:12 Wuḍū is the ablution or the preparation for Salat.
30:15 When people hear the Azaan or the call to the Contact Prayer, they prepare for the prayer,
30:24 the Contact Prayer.
30:25 And they do this by observing ablution. And ablution is decreed in the Quran in Sura number 5
30:32 verse number 6.
30:34 And it is very specific. It gives you 4 steps. Remember that, 4 steps of ablution.
30:42 The average Muslim today has 8 or 9 or 10 steps
30:46 which constitutes actually in reality some other god that added these steps, because
30:52 they do it religiously, and it constitutes idolatry.
30:56 So, please be careful, and observe what the Quran says, the Quran, the whole Quran
31:02 and nothing but the Quran.
31:03 And the Quran gives us 4 steps.
31:06 The first step is washing your face. The second step is washing your arms to the elbow.
31:13 The third step is to wipe your hair. And the fourth step is to wash your feet.
31:20 These are the 4 steps decreed in the Quran, and it is actually a gross transgression
31:29 to add anything to the 4 steps, or reduce anything.
31:34 Some people will say “what is wrong with washing my nose and my mouth and my neck and all the... my ears and so on?"
31:41 Of course, there's nothing wrong with extra cleanliness. Go take a bath or a shower if you want to.
31:46 But when it comes to religious practices, we must adhere to what our creator dictated exactly.
31:55 We cannot increase it, reduce it, or increase it by anything.
32:01 So, it is very crucial that we follow what our creator said in the Quran.
32:06 These are the words that came out of the prophet Muhammad’s mouth.
32:09 Ironically, those people think that they are following the prophet Muhammad by increasing
32:15 the number of steps in ablution. And you and I know that the prophet Muhammad could never disobey God.
32:22 So, if God said 4 steps, this is it. The ablution is 4 steps.
32:27 So, now let us go to show you, demonstrate for you the 4 steps of ablution, the Wuḍū.
32:54 We find this commandment in Sura number 5, verse number 6.
33:00 And I will quote the verse for you. It says “O you who believe, when you get up for
33:06 the Salat prayer, you shall wash your face, your arms to the elbows, wipe your hair,
33:14 and wash your feet.”
33:16 4 steps, and these are the words that came out of the prophet Muhammad’s mouth.
33:21 These are the words of God.
33:23 And God is saying "you shall observe the ablution 4 steps."
33:28 Washing the face, arms to the elbows, wipe your head, and wash your feet.
33:34 These are the 4 steps as dictated in Quran.
33:38 However, like everything else, innovations, superstitions, traditions crept into God’s
33:45 commandment and Satan distorted the commandment.
33:49 Now, the vast majority of Muslims observe something like 9 or 10 steps in ablution.
33:57 And this is very serious because it simply means that there is some other god who told them
34:02 to do the ablution 9 steps. They wash their hands, their mouth, their nose, their
34:09 face, their ears, their neck. They have all kinds of innovations and additions.
34:15 And I would like to warn you that you must never increase the steps or decrease them,
34:21 the steps of ablution. You must obey exactly what God told you in Quran.
34:28 If you want to wash more, you might as well take a shower or do whatever you want, but outside
34:34 the ablution.
34:36 If you are taking a shower or a bath, you can do the ablution after the shower or the bath
34:43 while you are still in the shower.
34:45 But you have to go through the motions of ablution as I will show you now.
34:50 So, let me show you, demonstrate to you how to do the ablution.
34:56 First of all, you roll your sleeves so you can wash your arms to the elbows.
35:03 There we go. We are now demonstrating the ablution.
35:10 You go to the faucet, and the first step in Quran is wash your face. So, you wash your face.
35:20 Here we go. Bism Allah Al-rahman Al-raheem.
35:25 Okay, let me stop right here and remind you of something.
35:29 You should make an intention, that is you say “I intend to observe the Wuḍū, or the ablution.”
35:37 Before you do that and you say “Bism Allah Al-rahman Al-raheem.” And you commemorate God
35:41 in any way you want. You say “Alhamdu Lillah”, “Subḥān Allāh”,
35:44 “Allahu akbar”, anything you want to commemorate God.
35:48 But if you want to say it in Arabic, the intention should be;
35:52 “nawayatu al-wuḍū, Bism Allah Al-rahman Al-raheem.”
35:57 So, here we go. “Bism Allah Al-rahman Al-raheem, nawayatu al-Wuḍū.”
36:01 Then the first step, you wash your face.
36:10 Okay, I washed my face twice, and I feel like I did a good job. So, this is good enough.
36:17 There is no set number of washing your face.
36:21 The second step, the arms to the elbows. So, here we go,
36:25 washing the arm to the elbow. Right arm and then the left arm, the same thing.
36:47 And this takes care of the second step.
36:52 The third step is you wipe your hair. So, what I will do is
36:55 I wet my hands and then I wipe my hair, my head, like this. And this is the third step.
37:03 The final step is wash your feet to the ankles. So, you put your foot there
37:10 wash it thoroughly. And this takes care of the right foot.
37:18 And then the left foot.
37:32 That's it. There you have it, the 4 steps of Wuḍū, very simple.
37:35 Don’t add any more steps, and don’t reduce the steps.
37:50 Now that you finished the 4 steps of Wuḍū, wash your face, your arms to the
37:56 elbows, wipe your head and wash your feet, you are ready for the Salat Prayer.
38:01 So, now let's go back to the masjid and show you how to observe the Salat Prayers, all 5 of them.
38:50 The innovations, superstitions, prejudices, customs, and traditions did not hit the Azaan
38:57 and the Wuḍū only, brothers and sisters, it also hit the Salat itself, the Contact Prayer.
39:03 There's so much garbage that we have to remove from the Contact Prayers to make it pure,
39:09 and make it exactly the Contact Prayers that the prophet Muhammad preached and practiced.
39:15 So, what I'm going to present to you is the pure Contact Prayer without any innovations
39:22 or additions that happened in the last 1400 years.
39:26 We are trying to take the Salat, the Contact Prayers, all the way to the prophet Muhammad,
39:31 the way he preached it, and the way he practiced it.
39:35 And the most important point, please pay attention, the most important point is never to mention
39:43 any name other than the name of Allah, the name of God, in your Contact Prayer.
39:49 This is dictated upon us in the Quran.
39:52 But you probably know that the average Muslim today adds the names of Muhammad and his family,
39:57 Abraham and his family, and so on in the Contact Prayer.
40:01 And this nullifies the Contact Prayer and makes it absolutely useless, if not harmful.
40:08 So, you must be very careful. And this is my responsibility to tell you that.
40:13 You must be very careful never to mention any name other than the name of Allah, the
40:18 name of God, in the Contact Prayers.
40:21 We see this in the Quran in Sura 72, AYA or verse number 18,
40:27 where it says “the places of worship belong to God, do not mention any other name besides
40:33 the name of God.” This is a Quranic commandment.
40:37 And in Sura 20, verse 15, we see the commandment (20:14) أَقِمِ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ لِذِكْرِىٓ
40:43 “observe the Contact Prayers to commemorate Me” singular. God
40:49 is telling us that we must commemorate Him alone in the Salat, in the Contact Prayer.
40:56 So, I will give you the details of the Contact Prayers and we will go the mosque now and
41:03 give you a demonstration.
41:05 But before I do this, I want to clarify that the TASHAHUD or the recitation while sitting down
41:13 should be only “Ash-hadu Alla Elaha Ella Allah Wahdahu La Shareeka Lah”
41:18 or just “Ash-hadu Alla Elaha Ella Allah”, or just “La Elaha Ella Allah.” This is
41:23 enough. “There is no god except the one God.”
41:26 And forget about all these names, Muhammad and his family, Abraham and his family.
41:31 Muhammad and Abraham will be the first people to denounce this use of their name in the Contact Prayer.
41:38 And you know something, all the Imams of Sunni and Shia, all of them, unanimously agree that
41:45 this mentioning of Muhammad and his family, Abraham and his family while sitting down
41:50 in the Contact Prayer, is not an obligatory part of the prayer.
41:55 You heard me right. Unanimously, they agreed that this is just a desirable, they think,
42:01 a desirable part, but it is not. It actually kills your Contact Prayer, makes it useless
42:07 and actually does harm to you. Because God will be offended to have other names mentioned besides Him
42:13 in the daily worship. You're worshiping God alone. So, just be careful.
42:19 And this by the way led to the conclusion that you must recite only Al-Fãtehah, the opening
42:26 Sura of the Quran while standing up in the Contact Prayers.
42:31 Do not recite any Quran after the Al-Fãtehah. And on the surface, this looks like abandoning
42:37 the Quran, it is not. It's the exact opposite. Because in the Contact Prayers, a lot of people end up memorizing
42:44 the short Suras: “qul huwa Allahu ahad”, and “qul a’uzu…”, and that’s it. And they think
42:49 they know Quran.
42:50 But I must tell you to read Quran every day. You must read the Quran every day. This is
42:56 a commandment from our creator to read His message, the Quran, every day, the whole Quran,
43:02 not just the short Suras.
43:04 But in the Contact Prayers, please, you only need recite Al-Fãtehah.
43:09 And this is a unifying force of all the Muslims in the world.
43:14 I was praying in Mecca one time and the Imam read Al-Fãtehah and then he read the whole
43:20 Sura number 32, Sura Al-Sajdah after Al-Fãtehah.
43:25 And I was thinking, you know, there are a few thousands of people in there around the Ka‘bah
43:30 praying behind this Imam, and the vast majority of them didn’t know any Arabic.
43:35 What is their point? They just stand through all this recitation in Arabic that they do not understand.
43:43 What is required is only recite Al-Fãtehah.
43:46 And this will unify all the Muslims of the world. They will do the same thing in all
43:51 the prayer. In Japan, they know Al-Fãtehah. They read it in the Contact Prayer. In Sweden,
43:56 in America, in Canada, in Australia, in Mecca, in Pakistan, all the Muslims of the world
44:02 will do the same thing.
44:04 But this business of reciting long portions of the Quran is wrong. It actually ruins the
44:10 Contact Prayer. God wants things to be easy for us, but Satan wants to make things difficult
44:17 for us. So, he adds all things. Besides, when you recite the Quran, you mention Moses and
44:23 Jesus and Muhammad and Pharaoh and the devil and all these things.
44:27 You'll mention other names besides the name of God in the prayer, and this is forbidden by
44:33 commandment from God.
44:34 We are not to mention any name.
44:37 When you recite the Quran in the mosque and you mention other names, it's because God says
44:42 so in the Quran. It says (19:16) وَٱذْكُرْ فِى ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ مَرْيَمَ for example. This is God’s commandment.
44:48 You can mention the name of Mary in the Quran in order to learn from the lessons of previous
44:55 prophets, messengers, and so on.
44:57 And it is a commandment from God to mention. So, when we read the Quran, we mention these
45:03 names only because God commanded us to do so.
45:06 But in the Contact Prayers, in the Salat, we are commanded never to mention any other
45:12 name but the name of Allah, the name of God.
45:38 After you have done the Wuḍū and you are ready for the prayer, you go to a nice clean
45:44 place. You don’t necessarily need the prayer rug. This is one of those innovations.
45:50 You can pray in any clean place, even bare ground as long as it is dry and clean.
45:57 So, you go to a nice clean place and you find the direction of Mecca, the direction of the
46:04 Sacred Mosque, because this is a commandment in Quran that you must face.
46:09 This is an organizational point. There is no other significance to it, except organizational.
46:16 You can imagine people going in a mosque and facing in different directions, it'll be a mess.
46:22 So, this organizational point dictates on us that we must face the direction of Mecca,
46:28 wherever you might be.
46:30 So, in the United States, the direction generally is slightly south of east, slightly south
46:39 of east, southeast.
46:42 So, find the direction of Mecca. You face that direction and then you make your intention.
46:48 This is the first step.
46:50 You must say “I intend to do the Morning Prayer” in any language you like.
46:55 If you want it in Arabic, you can say “Nawaytu Salat Al-Sobh.” This will be the NIYYA or
47:01 the intention for the Morning Prayer.
47:03 Or if it is for the Noon Prayer, you say, in your heart or in an audible voice “I intend
47:11 to do the Noon Prayer”, “Nawaytu Salat Al-Zuhr” in Arabic.
47:16 If it is the Afternoon Prayer, it is “Nawaytu Salat Al-Asr.”
47:22 And for the Sunset Prayer, the NIYYA or intention is “Nawaytu Salat Al-Maghrib.”
47:29 For the Night Prayer, the intention or the NIYYA is “Nawaytu Salat Al-'Eshaa.”
47:37 So, but you can do it in any language you wish, secretly or loudly.
47:41 Now after you do the NIYYA, now you're facing the direction of Mecca, you make your intention
47:46 or NIYYA, then you open the Salat by raising your hands to the sides of your face and saying
47:52 “Allahu akbar” like this “Allahu akbar."
47:57 There is your opening of the Salat.
48:00 Once you say “Allahu Akbar” in this manner, you have started your contact or Salat, your contact with your creator.
48:11 Now after you make the opening TAKBIR, Allahu akbar, you can either put your hands on the side
48:18 or you can choose to hold them like this, with your left hand
48:22 on your stomach, and your right hand on top of your left hand. It doesn’t
48:27 make any difference. Some people make a big deal out of it, but there is no difference.
48:32 Either way is correct.
48:33 So, this is the opening of the Salat, the Contact Prayer.
48:37 Allahu akbar.
48:41 Now, you are ready to recite Al-Fãtehah, the opening Sura of Quran.
48:48 The easiest way for you is to have me write the words in English transliteration, English letters.
48:55 So, before you do the Wuḍū, the ablution, you can say your intention “I intend to
49:02 make the ablution” or Wuḍū either in English or in Arabic.
49:06 So “I intend to do the ablution” in English, the Arabic would be “Nawaytu Al-Wuḍū”.
49:12 And you write it like this “Nawaytu.” “Nawaytu” which means “I intend.”
49:28 Nawaytu Al-Wuḍū.
49:32 “Al” means “the.”
49:35 Ablution “Wuḍū”, “Al-Wuḍū.”
49:45 “Nawaytu Al-Wuḍū”
49:50 Let me write the words of Azaan for you. “Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar,
49:58 La Elaha Ella Allah.”
50:00 So, in the Azaan, we say “Allahu Akbar” 4 times.
50:05 “Allahu Akbar“ meaning “God is the greatest.” Allahu
50:17 “Allahu”, “God” “Akbar” (greatest).
50:30 Allahu Akbar, 4 times.
50:36 Then, “La Elaha Ella Allah.”
50:39 “La” means no.
50:44 La
50:45 “Elaha” meaning god with a small g.
51:00 “La” means no. "Elaha" is god.
51:04 no
51:06 "Elaha" is god with a small g.
51:12 “Ella” means except.
51:19 "Ella", except
51:28 "Allah" means God.
51:43 “La Elaha Ella Allah“
51:46 So, this is the complete Azaan, the original Azaan without any innovations or additions
51:53 or traditions.
51:56 A lot of people think that Allah is the name of God, but it is not. Allah simply means God.
52:02 The English word for it is God.
52:05 The non-Muslims in the Arabic world say “Allah” because this is the Arabic word for God
52:11 even though they are not Muslims.
52:13 They will say “IN SHAA ALLAH.” They say “Allah” and because simply that is the language.
52:18 It is not the name of God. This is why I use the word, the English word, “God” for "Allah."
52:28 Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar
52:37 Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar
52:45 La Elaha Ella Allah
52:52 I'm going to write the NIYYA or intention for every prayer for you, so you can see how
52:57 it is spelled.
52:59 Here's the NIYYA or intention for the Morning Prayer.
53:04 “Nawaytu” – “Nawaytu” which means “I intend."
53:16 “Salat” – “Salat Al-Subh” – “Al” – “Subh” – “Al-Subh”
53:41 “I intend to do the Morning Prayer” – “Nawaytu Salat Al-Subh.”
53:47 Now, to make it the Noon Prayer, you just... you say the same thing except you change
53:56 “Al-Subh” to “Zuhr” which means “noon.”
54:02 “Nawaytu” – “Nawaytu Salat Al-Zuhr.”
54:07 This will make it the Noon Prayer, “Al-Zuhr.”
54:16 For the Afternoon Prayer, you just make it “Al-'Asr”
54:20 “Salat Al-'Asr.” You write 'A like this "Al-'Asr." “Nawaytu Salat Al-'Asr.”
54:38 The Sunset, you make it “Al-Maghrib.”
54:45 “Nawaytu Salat Al-Maghrib”, it's written like this “Al-Maghrib.”
55:04 “Nawaytu Salat Al-Maghrib.” This is the Sunset Prayer.
55:08 And the Night Prayer is “Al-'Eshaa.”
55:13 “Nawaytu Salat Al-'Eshaa” – “Al-'Eshaa.”
55:27 “Nawaytu Salat Al-'Eshaa.”
55:34 By now you know how Allahu akbar is written, the opening of the Contact Prayer “Allahu akbar."
55:42 This is followed by Sura Al-Fãtehah.
55:45 And it is written like this: The first verse is “Bism Allah.”
56:02 “Arrahman.”
56:13 “Arraheem.”
56:30 “Bism Allah Arrahman Arraheem.”
56:34 “Al hamdu”
56:46 “Lillahi”
56:54 “Rabbil ‘Alameen”
57:14 Okay, “Bism Allah Arrahman Arraheem” means “in the name of God, most Gracious,
57:21 most Merciful.”
57:23 “Al hamdu Lillahi” means “praise be to God."
57:28 “Rabbil ‘Alameen” means “Lord of the universe.”
57:34 “Bism Allah Arrahman Arraheem. Al hamdu Lillahi Rabbil ‘Alameen”, “in the name
57:41 of God, most Gracious, most Merciful. Praise be to God, Lord of the universe.”
57:49 And the next statement is familiar to you: “Arrahman Arraheem”, “Most Gracious
58:12 Most Merciful.”
58:19 And the next statement is: “Maliki” means “Master” or “King.”
58:33 “Yawm” means day. “Eddeen”; recompense. "Yawm Eddeen" day of recompense.
58:51 So “Arrahman Arraheem”, “Most Gracious, Most Merciful”, “Maliki Yawm Eddeen”,
58:57 “Master of the Day of Recompense.”
59:00 “Eyyaka Na’abudu” means “only You we worship.”
59:30 “Wa Eyyaka” means “and only You”
59:33 “Wa” means “and.”
59:36 “Eyyaka Nasta’aeen” means “we ask for help, only You we ask for help.”
59:59 “Wa Eyyaka Nasta’aeen”, “and only You we ask for help.”
1:00:07 The next statement... now, of course, you can always go back, reverse the tape and watch
1:00:16 all these words until you know them very well by heart.
1:00:24 The next statement is “Ehdina Al-Serata Al-Mustaqeem”, “guide us in the right path."
1:00:31 “Ehdina” means “guide us.”
1:00:40 “Al-Serata” means “the path”.
1:00:51 “Al-Mustaqeem”, “the straight” or the right path.
1:01:08 “Ehdina Al-Serata Al-Mustaqeem”, “guide us in the right path.”
1:01:15 “Serata” means “the path of”
1:01:26 “Al-Lazeena” means “the path of those”
1:01:36 “An’amta” means “those whom You blessed.”
1:01:44 “An’amta ‘Alayhim”, “You showered Your blessings on them.”
1:01:55 “Ehdina Al-Serata Al-Mustaqeem”, “guide us in the right path.”
1:02:00 “Serata Al-Lazeena An’amta ‘Alayhim”, “the path of those whom you blessed.”
1:02:09 And then we go to the last statement in the Al-Fãtehah, “Ghayri Al-Maghdoobi ‘Alayhim.”
1:02:22 “Ghayri” means “other than, or not.”
1:02:31 “Al-Maghdoobi ‘Alayhim” means “not the path of those who incur wrath, or anger.”
1:02:54 “Ghayri Al-Maghdoobi ‘Alayhim.”
1:02:56 “Wa Laddaalleen” (not the strayers).
1:02:58 “Wa” means “and.”
1:03:00 “La” means “no”, “nor” “Wa La”
1:03:03 “Wa Laddaalleen”, and this is the end of it – “and not the strayers.”
1:03:13 “Ghayri Al-Maghdoobi ‘Alayhim”, “not the path of those who incur wrath, or anger”
1:03:18 “Wa Laddaalleen”, “nor the strayers.”
1:03:43 After you recite Al-Fãtehah, then you make Ruku, bowing.
1:03:48 And as you bow you say “Allahu Akbar” and you know what that looks like. I wrote it for you.
1:03:54 Then during the Ruku you say “Subhaana Rabbiya Al-‘Azeem” about three times. It doesn’t
1:04:00 matter, two or three or four times.
1:04:02 “Subhaana” means “glory be to.”
1:04:12 “Subhaana Rabbiya” means “Glory be to my Lord.”
1:04:22 “Al-‘Azeem” means “the Great.”
1:04:31 “Subhaana Rabbiya Al-‘Azeem”, “Glory be to my Lord, the Great.”
1:04:38 Then, you stand up and in this position only you say “Sami’a Allahu Leman Hamidah”
1:04:47 means “God hears anyone who praises Him.”
1:04:51 And it is written like this “Sami’a Allahu”
1:05:09 “Leman”, “anyone.”
1:05:17 “Hamidah”, “who praises him.”
1:05:25 “Sami’a Allahu Leman Hamidah” as you stand up.
1:05:31 Then, you make the first prostration, Sujud.
1:05:39 And when you do that, you say “Allahu Akbar” as you go down in prostration.
1:05:44 And during prostration, you say “Subhaana Rabbiya Al-A‘alaa”
1:05:58 about three or four times, means “Glory be to my lord, the Most High.”
1:06:05 “Al-A‘alaa”, “the Most High.”
1:06:09 And this takes care of all the words of the Contact Prayers.
1:06:13 Now, you know how to say all the words and if you play the tape over and over, you can
1:06:19 see how exactly they are written down and how they are pronounced.
1:07:17 In the sitting position, you say “Ash-hadu Alla Elaha Ella Allah, Wahdahu La Shareeka Lah"
1:07:24 which means “I bear witness that there is no god except Allah, the one God,
1:07:30 He is one.
1:07:30 “La Shareeka Lah”, “He has no partners.”
1:07:33 And this is how I write it “Ash-hadu” means “I bear witness.”
1:07:43 “Ash-hadu Alla”,
1:07:49 “Elaha” means “god with a small g.”
1:07:53 “I bear witness that there is no god”
1:07:56 “Ella”, “except”
1:08:01 “Ella Allah”, “the one God”
1:08:08 “Wahdahu”, “He is one”
1:08:18 “Wahdahu La Shareeka Lah”, “He has no partner.”
1:08:22 “La” means “no.”
1:08:25 “Shareek” means “partner.”
1:08:28 “La Shareeka Lah”, (He has no partner).
1:08:38 And this takes care of the Ta-shahud in the sitting position,
1:08:44 “Ash-hadu Alla Elaha Ella Allah, Wahdahu La Shareeka Lah.”
1:08:54 And then of course to end the prayer, you look at the right side and say “Al-Salaamu ‘Alaykum”,
1:08:59 and then on the left side saying “Al-Salaamu ‘Alaykum” and this ends the Contact Prayer.
1:09:04 So, let me write “Al-Salaamu ‘Alaykum” for you.
1:09:10 “Al-Salaamu ‘Alaykum”
1:09:28 There you have it, the complete words of the Contact Prayers.
1:09:37 Now, let me explain a few fine details about the Salat, the Contact Prayers.
1:09:42 One of the most important points is that there is a myth among the average Muslims
1:09:50 that a woman who has her period or menstruation cannot pray.
1:09:55 Now, this has to be from Satan because Satan is the one who does not want you, the Muslim
1:10:01 woman, to pray.
1:10:02 God did not say in the Quran at all “do not pray during menstruation.”
1:10:08 There is nothing in the Quran that says that.
1:10:10 Even the Hadith... we learn from Hadith that the prophet’s wives used to pray during
1:10:15 their menstruation.
1:10:17 One Hadith even says "they put a bucket under one of his wives as she prayed."
1:10:22 Ridiculous as this may be, but it demonstrates that the Muslim woman should pray during her
1:10:28 menstruation.
1:10:30 If a Muslim woman does not pray, during menstruation, this means one week in the month without prayer,
1:10:36 and this is like 4 years every 10 years, 4 years without any
1:10:42 prayer, imagine that.
1:10:44 So, this will be a satanic innovation to stop the women from praying during menstruation.
1:10:50 So, please, menstruation or not, the Contact Prayer, the Salat prayer is the only worship
1:10:57 that must go on. There is absolutely no excuse for not doing the Contact Prayer.
1:11:03 Even God provides that you can pray walking, or riding in a car, or riding in a plane,
1:11:09 or in a bus, or even if a person is very sick, very ill, cannot move, that person can pray
1:11:16 with his or her eyelids, or even mentally.
1:11:21 If you are working in crowded place and you cannot find a place to pray, you can pray
1:11:26 at your desk sitting down just mentally going through the motions and the words.
1:11:31 So, there is absolutely no excuse for missing any Contact Prayer.
1:11:53 So, whether the person is ill, unable to move, or riding, trapped in a car or a bus or
1:12:00 a plane, or in a working place where there is no place available for prayer,
1:12:07 or during menstruation, or the after birth bleeding, any of these conditions cannot... nothing
1:12:14 stops your from performing, observing the Contact Prayers.
1:12:19 Another point that I wish to mention is the group prayer or the Jama’a.
1:12:25 In the Jama’a, one person leads the prayer and the rest of the group stand behind him,
1:12:31 behind the imam, and do exactly what he does. You do not have to recite Al-Fãtehah or the Quran
1:12:39 after the imam.
1:12:42 Remember, all that is required in the Contact Prayer is the Al-Fãtehah, the first Sura of Quran.
1:12:49 So, you just mentally follow the imam as he recites Al-Fãtehah during the Contact Prayer.
1:12:56 And then of course in Ruku', the bowing position, you say “Subhaana Rabbiya Al-‘Azeem” as usual.
1:13:02 And in the Sujood or prostration, you say “Subhaana Rabbiya Al-A‘alaa”, as usual.
1:13:10 So, you only listen to the imam when he recites Al-Fãtehah in the standing position.
1:13:17 If a person comes late, and finds the Jama’a, the group, already did one or two or three
1:13:23 Rak’as, units, you just – if you come late, you just join the group in whatever
1:13:29 position they are in, and then after they finish, when they say “Al-Salaamu ‘Alaykum”,
1:13:33 the first one, you stand up and you complete the part that you missed.
1:13:39 So, this is how you make up for missing units, or missing Rak’as when you join a group.
1:14:04 What happens if you miss one of the prayers, one of the Contact Prayers?
1:14:08 You're supposed to do all five Contact Prayers during each one of the five periods, the Morning
1:14:16 Contact before sunrise, the Noon between around 12:00 and four (16:00), the Afternoon
1:14:21 between four (16:00) and sunset, the Sunset Contact immediately after sunset, and the
1:14:26 Night Prayer after all the twilight disappears from the horizon, about two hours after sunset.
1:14:34 Now what happens if you miss one of these prayers?
1:14:37 There is a myth that you can make it up or combine prayers and it is just an innovation.
1:14:43 You cannot make up missed prayer.
1:14:46 If you miss the Noon Prayer in any day, you just cannot bring yesterday back.
1:14:51 You missed it and it is too bad.
1:14:54 So, you just ask God for forgiveness, repent and promise God that you will never, to the
1:15:00 best of your ability, miss anymore prayers, and you just go on doing the prayers.
1:15:05 See, the idea of the Contact Prayer is to contact our creator within a certain period of every day.
1:15:13 And when you miss that, it is gone. You cannot bring it back, and you cannot make
1:15:17 it up, but you can ask forgives and repent.
1:15:23 And now the best way to describe the Contact Prayers to you is to demonstrate exactly how it is done.
1:15:31 So, now I will demonstrate for you the Morning Contact Prayer.
1:15:49 Do you remember the first thing you have to do in order to observe the Contact Prayers?
1:15:55 That’s right, the intention. You declare your intention, in Arabic “NIYYA."
1:16:01 So, since this is the morning prayer, I will make the intention for the Morning Contact Prayer,
1:16:06 in English then in Arabic.
1:16:08 Then, I will proceed with the prayer and you just watch everything I'm doing and this
1:16:13 is – this should be the correct way for observing the Contact Prayer.
1:16:18 So, here I am facing the direction of Mecca, and I'm going to make my intention.
1:16:25 I intend to do the Morning Contact Prayer, Nawaytu Salat Al-Subh.
1:16:32 Allahu Akbar Bism Allah Arrahman Arraheem (1:1)
1:16:38 Al hamdu Lillahi Rabbil ‘Alameen (1:2) Arrahman Arraheem (1:3)
1:16:43 Maliki Yawm Eddeen (1:4) Eyyaka Na’abudu Wa Eyyaka Nasta’aeen (1:5)
1:16:49 Ehdina Al-Serata Al-Mustaqeem (1:6)
1:16:52 Serata Al-Lazeena An’amta ‘Alayhim Ghayri Al-Maghdoobi ‘Alayhim Wa Laddaalleen (1:7)
1:17:00 Allahu Akbar Subhaana Rabbiya Al-‘Azeem x 3
1:17:08 Sami’a Allahu Leman Hamidah Allahu Akbar
1:17:14 Subhaana Rabbiya Al-A‘alaa x 3 Allahu Akbar
1:17:23 Allahu Akbar Subhaana Rabbiya Al-A‘alaa x 3
1:17:33 Allahu Akbar Bism Allah Arrahman Arraheem (1:1)
1:17:40 Al hamdu Lillahi Rabbil ‘Alameen (1:2) Arrahman Arraheem (1:3)
1:17:45 Maliki Yawm Eddeen (1:4) Eyyaka Na’abudu Wa Eyyaka Nasta’aeen (1:5)
1:17:52 Ehdina Al-Serata Al-Mustaqeem (1:6)
1:17:55 Serata Al-Lazeena An’amta ‘Alayhim Ghayri Al-Maghdoobi ‘Alayhim Wa Laddaalleen (1:7)
1:18:02 Allahu Akbar Subhaana Rabbiya Al-‘Azeem x 3
1:18:11 Sami’a Allahu Leman Hamidah Allahu Akbar
1:18:16 Subhaana Rabbiya Al-A‘alaa x 3 Allahu Akbar
1:18:27 Allahu Akbar Subhaana Rabbiya Al-A‘alaa x 3
1:18:36 Allahu Akbar Ash-hadu Alla Elaha Ella Allah, Wahdahu La Shareeka Lah
1:18:45 Al-Salaamu ‘Alaykum Al-Salaamu ‘Alaykum
1:18:52 And this completes the Morning Prayer. This is
1:18:55 the original contact Salat prayer as observed by the prophet Muhammad and it came to us
1:19:02 all the way from Abraham exactly this way.
1:19:06 And you notice in my prayer, I didn’t look around, I didn’t laugh, I was not distracted,
1:19:12 I concentrated on communicating with my creator.
1:19:16 And now I will do the Noon Prayer.
1:19:19 Now, the Noon Prayer, the Afternoon Prayer, and the Night Contact Prayer are all identical, exactly the same.
1:19:28 So, the intention for the Noon Prayer is “Nawaytu Salat Al-Zuhr.”
1:19:35 For the Asr, for the afternoon prayer “Nawaytu Salat Al-Asr.”
1:19:41 And for the night prayer “Nawaytu Salat Al-'Eshaa.”
1:19:44 So, what I’m going to demonstrate for you is 4 Rak’as
1:19:50 which is suitable for the Noon, Afternoon, and the Night Prayer.
1:19:54 So, here we go.
1:19:56 I face the direction of Mecca, and I make my intention according to whichever Contact
1:20:02 Prayer it is, and I start my prayer by opening with TAKBIR.
