The Sura Names Add Up

"Over it is nineteen" (74:30). God sealed His final message with a mathematical miracle: the Quran's letters, words, verses and suras are all built on the number 19, in ways no human could have put there and no human can take away. God unveiled it in 1974 through Dr. Rashad Khalifa, and it is proof you can hold in your own hands: count, and the 19 is there. This article follows that proof one step further, onto the names of the 114 suras, written as this Quran prints them. Their letters are counted the way Appendix 1 counts, and valued by the gematrical values of Appendix 1. Then the forms God placed in the Quran, as Appendix 1 shows them, are written out again with the names in place of the verses, nothing added and nothing rearranged, and each one is tested against 19.

How the names are counted

The names are written as the Quran's own text writes them, not as a dictionary spells them: إبرهيم, not ابراهيم, just as Appendix 2 counts Abraham as 258. Eighteen names are written differently that way, seventeen of them with one alif fewer, among them لقمن, الصفت, القيمة and العديت, and Sura 92 is اليل with one lam. The nine names that never occur in the text, such as الفاتحة, keep their common spelling. Every written alif counts as one alif, whatever hamza sits on it (ا أ إ آ). A hamza on its own (ء) counts as one. ؤ is و and ئ is ي. The ta marbuta (ة) is ha (ه), value 5. Sura 9 is براءة and Sura 17 is بنى إسرءيل, as this Quran names them. The 1982 book Quran: Visual Presentation of the Miracle prints the 29 initialed names in Arabic on page 239; they agree with these letter for letter except where the book keeps an alif the Quran's text leaves out (ابراهيم, لقمان, عمران) and two hamza seats (الاعراف, الاحقاف).

The number people pass around

A reader wrote that the gematrical value of all 114 names is 40,071, which is 19 × 19 × 111. Counted as above, the value is 40,024. That is 19 × 2,106 with 10 left over. The letters come to 637, which is 19 × 33 with 10 left over. Neither total is a multiple of 19.

The rule

Each fact is one of the forms of the miracle as Appendix 1 prints them, carried onto the names one for one:

Where a form takes a word, God, Rashada, the Shahadah, a letter stands for the word: a sura holding the word is a name holding the letter, and the verse of an occurrence is the letter's place in the name. Every form is run over five sets, all 114 suras, the 29 initialed, the 85 un-initialed, the 57 odd-numbered and the 57 even-numbered, and, where the form writes the suras in order, in the Quran's order and in the order of revelation. No figure is written twice in one number. Table 10 stays set aside.

155 of these writings come to a multiple of 19. Each is shown so that you can check it by hand.

How to read a fact

Each fact names its form, gives the steps with the names, and the result as Appendix 1 writes it: the number, then 19 × what. The app rebuilds every number from the names in its own Quran when the card comes on screen. Long numbers are folded on the card; open one to see every digit, sura by sura and in full, and to copy it into a calculator that handles long numbers.
